Fire Safety Week

Since this week is Fire Safety Week, we have been discussing firefighters and fire safety.

Yesterday we discussed the different types of equipment that firefighters wear to protect themselves when they enter burning buildings. We then dressed our paper firefighters using some of the gear that we learned about.

Today, we discussed what is safe to touch. We played a game called Hot or Not! Afterwards, we sorted pictures into two categories too hot to touch or safe to touch.

We have also had two practice fire drills. We discussed how when the fire alarm goes off we immediately put down what we are working with and line up at our back door as quickly and safely as possible.

Tomorrow we will be learning about smoke alarms. Please discuss with your children at home ways that they can stay safe from fire. Discuss a meeting place outside of your house in case of a fire so that your family will know where to find each other. You can even practice to stop drop and roll as a family!
