We are Bucket Fillers!

Today we read the book, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? In it, we learned that everybody in the world carries an invisible bucket. Our buckets are filled when others are showing us kind actions and using kind words. When we do the same for them, we also fill our own buckets!

We also talked about being a bucket dipper. This is when we hurt someone else's feelings. When we do that, we dip into their buckets and take away some of their happy thoughts and feelings. When we do this our bucket starts to empty as well. We decided that we would rather be bucket fillers in room 100!

In our classroom, each student has a small bucket on our windowsill.

Each day, I will be looking for the kindergarteners to be using kind words and kind actions towards each other and myself both in and out of the classroom. What a student is observed being a bucket filler, I will place colorful pom-poms in their bucket. When their bucket is filled, they get to visit the prize box!

I can't wait to see all of the kind actions that your children will be sharing with us this year! Please talk to your children about ways that they can help fill others buckets, so that their bucket can be filled as well!
