Going on a Button Hunt!

Today we read the book, Corduroy by Don Freeman. After reading the book, about a teddy bear who goes in search of his missing button, we decided we needed to look around the school to help Corduroy!

As we walk around the school, we went into different classrooms and offices and met new people. Each person we met we asked if they had seen Corduroy's button. We matched the button that they had to our Corduroy poster to see if it was the right one. If it wasn't, we talked about why it wasn't the right one. Wasit  the wrong color? Was it the wrong shape?

Ms. Groszek, our reading specialist, had a green, flower shaped button. That wasn't it…

Our custodian, Ms. Cherese, had a purple, oval shaped button. That wasn't it…

We met our music teacher, Mrs. Cooper. Her button was a white triangle. We knew that wasn't right!

Mr. Fackler, our art teacher, had a blue, hexagon shaped button. Still not the one we're looking for!

We met our school's secretaries. Mrs. McCormick had a square, orange button and Mrs. Douma had a red, heart shaped button. Neither one of these fit the poster!

One of our favorite places to visit was the multipurpose room, where we will be eating lunch next week! We met Ms. Pam, who will be serving us food! Ms. Pam's button was close. It was a circle, the right shape. But it was yellow! The search continues…

When we visited the media center, we met Mrs. Stayer. She will be teaching us when we visit the library and the computer lab. Her button was a pink star. Still not the one we're looking for!

Finally, we visited our principal, Ms. Thompson. Her button was a blue circle. We held it up to our poster and it was the perfect match! We were so excited!

We are really looking forward to visiting our specials classes next week now that we know where to go and who we will be working with!
