Dr. Seuss' Birthday!

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by doing an author study.  The books written and illustrated by him that we read were And To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street, Horton Hears a Who, Yertle the Turtle, Gertrude McFuzz, The Lorax and The Butter Battle Book!

After reading all of these stories, we practiced writing our own rhymes in writer's workshop!  The children had a great time making up silly stories!  The Lorax was voted as our favorite Dr. Seuss book.  The kids loved the story and it really made them think about what pollution does to the environment.

To celebrate the end of our author study, we ate green eggs from the book Green Eggs and Ham!  Everyone who was brave enough to try them loved every bite!

Even Ms. Steward joined the fun!
