Next week, our school will be participating in Red Ribbon Week. This is a national program where students across the country discuss ways to stay safe and drug free. In our class, we will be discussing poison control, stranger danger and anti-bullying.
As part of Red Ribbon Week, each classroom will be decorating their doors to show the theme of being safe and drug free. The doors will be completed by Thursday for a contest judged by our principal, Ms. Johnson!
On Friday, Oct. 28, our school will be celebrating the harvest time! On this day, the children may wear costumes to school! If your child will be coming in costume, please remember that there should be no witches, goblins, weapons, blood or masks. Our morning will consist of harvest themed lessons and activities. After lunch, the whole school will be participating in a harvest parade! We will be walking through the school, collecting treats along the way, and showing off our costumes! Following this, we will return to our classroom for our harvest party with Ms. Demsky's class!
If you would like to volunteer to help us with our harvest party, please let me know! There will be chairs set up in the gym for parents to watch the harvest parade walk by. The parade will begin at 1:30 and we will return to our classroom by 2:30 for the party, where we will combine with Ms. Demsky's first graders. If you are joining us for the parade and party, we would love to see you in the afternoon!
If you would like to donate items for our harvest party, here is a list of things we need:
- plain donuts (rings, not holes - we are hanging them)
- paper plates, cups, napkins
- apple cider/juice
- apples, oranges, pretzels, grapes (or any healthy, fall-colored foods we can think of!)
