101st Day of School

Hello First Grade Families!

We hope you have had a great start to your break!  We wanted to share some exciting news with all of our families about some upcoming special activities!

Next Tuesday, February 23, our grade level will be celebrating the 101st Day of School!  You may be familiar with the 100th Day celebration in kindergarten, but in first grade it’s all about that extra “1!”

We have planned an exciting day full of activities all based around the number 101!  As part of this celebration, we are asking for a little participation from home.  On the 101stDay of School, we are asking for all of the first graders to dress as if they are 101 years old!  This activity is always wonderful as we get to see what 1st graders really think it means to be older!  Below are some ideas to help your student put together their costume:

Glasses, pearls, suspenders, wigs, baby powder, scarfs, stockings, slippers, canes, umbrellas, beards/mustaches and huge purses.

For more ideas, please see the link below to Mr. Kefgen’s classroom blog to see pictures of one of his previous classes celebrating this way!

Also, we will be making a 101st Day Trail Mix!  This includes 11 ingredients.  The children will count out 10 pieces from 10 different bowls to make a 100-bite snack, then top it off with a special 101st ingredient!  We are asking any family who is interested to donate some of these items by using the following SignUp link.

We can’t wait to see the costumes the children come up with!  If you have any questions, please let us know!  Good luck and enjoy your Mid-Winter Break!  We will see everyone next week!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Cibor, Miss Thane and Mr. Kefgen
