Sense of Touch

As we continue learning about our five senses, we spent the last two days learning about our sense of touch. We learned that our sense of touch can tell us if something is pointy, bumpy, soft or smooth. We discussed that it can tell us if something is hot or cold, or wet or dry. We also learned that it is our skin, which covers our whole body, and not just our hands, that is actually used in our sense of touch.

Our science experiment involved The Feely Box! This closed box with a hole in the side contained objects that were pointy, bumpy, soft or smooth. During the experiment we drew pictures of the objects we were feeling on a recording sheet. For our first turn, the kindergartners were asked to use only their sense of touch to find something in the box that matched a description. Their next turn involves reaching into the box and choosing something on their own and then explaining its texture. We had so much fun working with The Feely Box!
