Milestone #4 is due this Thursday, March 3.  Please remember that this is a completed visual aid.  If you have any questions or need art supplies, internet access or printing, please stop by our classroom after school.  Good luck!  I am really looking forward to seeing all the projects the children have been working on!

100 Day Fun!

We had such a great time last Friday, as we celebrated out 100th day of school!  Here are some of the great pictures we took!  The day started out with each child dressing as if they were 100 years old!  Everyone looked amazing!  Here are our very own Grandmas and Grandpas:

The Golden Girls

The Grumpy Old Men

During morning meeting, we played several 100 themed counting games.  We then decided to jump for 100 seconds!  That took a lot out of this elderly group!

After jumping, we returned to our desks to create a 100 Day ice cream project.  Each student had 10 ice cream cones and they needed to glue 10 "scoops" on each cone to get 100 scoops!  The first one done was the winner!  Congratulations, Mya!

After that, our class joined the rest of the village to make our 100 Day Trail Mix.  The children very excited to do this, and remembered doing thins in kindergarten!  Each child picked 10 pieces of 10 different snacks to create a 100 item mix!

At the end of the day, Lighthouse Village went on a parade through each classroom to show off what each class did.  Both our class and Ms. Demsky's class dressed like we were 100 years old.  Ms. Mirjah, Ms. Josephson and Mrs. Woolsey made 100 day t shirts and Ms. Standard's class made masks.  Here we go!

 Our Retirement Community!

At the end of the day, we all felt as old as we looked!

Milestone #4 - Visual Aids

This is a gentle reminder that milestone #4 , a COMPLETED VISUAL AID is due next Thursday, March 3rd.  Please take advantage of the break from school, if you have not already done so, to work on the visual aid.  The following need to be included:

1. A picture of the chosen person.
2. The new facts that the children found, written by the child.
3. Pictures relating to the chosen person's accomplishments.  Children are visual learners.  If the person invented something, please try to have a picture of it so that the children can see what is being discussed.
4. Anything related to their goals that they would like to include.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  I will be in our classroom each night until at least 5pm next week.  Our classroom has computers with internet access, printing capabilities, art supplies and poster paper.  Anyone is welcome to use these supplies as needed.

Thank you and good luck!

100 Day Reminder

We will celebrating our 100th day of school this Friday, February 18.  As part of our celebration, our village will be creating our own 100 Day Mix.  Each classroom will be donating 1 or 2 items for the mix so that each child will have 10 pieces of 10 different snacks to make a 100 item mix!  Our class will be donating mini marshmallows and small twisted pretzels to the mix.  If you would like to donate, please send one of these these items in no later than Thursday so that I can assess how much, if any, needs to purchased.

Also, our class will be dressing as if we are 100 years old on Friday!  We have talked about some of the things that we could do to look older that day.  Here are some of things the children came up with:

1.  Put baby powder in our hair to look white.
2.  Carry a cane or umbrella.
3.  Boys wear bow ties.
4.  Girls wear shawls.
5.  Glasses on our noses.

All the children said that old people would wear dresses and suits.  I am very excited to see what each family comes up with for costumes!  I will, of course, put all photos on the blog for everyone to see!

We will be doing a parade with the rest of Lighthouse Village to show off what we are wearing.  This will take place at 3pm on Friday.  All families are welcome to come and see parade!

Parent volunteers are also welcome for our 100 Day activities!  Please let me know if you would like to join us!

Milestone #3

Please remember that milestone #3 is due this Thursday, February 17.  Your child needs to bring in any list of words, flashcards or writing samples that show evidence of their goal progress for this milestone.  I will be sitting down with each child to discuss their goals that we had set at their last learning team meeting.  A form will be filled out by me which details how the students are progressing in their goals, as well as any suggestions to help them meet their goals if necessary.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thank you in advance!

A Valentine's Day to Remember!

We had such a great time today as we celebrated Valentine's Day!  We started out the day with some Valentine's stories.  By the afternoon, the children were really ready to share all the cards and treats that they had brought for each other.  Here are the children as they passed out their Valentine's!

After we passed out our treats, we decorated cookies!  The children loved the sprinkles, frosting and colored sugar, but were not fans of the cinnamon dots!

At the end of the day, we joined Ms. Standard's and Mrs. Woolsey's classes to watch a Charlie Brown Valentine's Day.  It was a great day for everyone!

To all of our families and friends - Happy Valentine's Day!  <3
