Call for Collections

This letter was sent home earlier this week.  This is a gentle reminder for the collections to come to school on Monday, March 2.  Thank you to all of the families that have already sent their child's collection to school.

Collections

As part of our upcoming Opinion Writing unit, we are asking that each student bring a small collection to school. We will use these collections as a hands-on way to learn to form opinions and develop supporting reasons.

The following are some guidelines for the collections:

·        A collection should be made up of 5 small items.
·        All 5 items should be able to fit in a shoe box.
·        Please label the shoebox (or storage container) with your child’s name.
·        Please send the collection to school with your child no later than Monday, March 2!
·        The collections will stay at school for a week or two, so please make sure it’s something your child can be without!

The collections can be anything that appeals to your child. Some ideas include:
·         My Little Ponies or other figurines
·         Pokemon Cards or Football Cards or Baseball Cards
·         Nail polish
·         Coins
·         Anything your child truly loves and collects!

Thank you for your support!

White T-shirts

This is a gentle reminder that we will be using white T-shirts as a craft for part of our 101st day of school celebration tomorrow! I will have a few extras in case someone forgets, but please remember to send your child with a white T-shirt that they can paint on. Thank you so much in advance.

Also, if you had volunteered to donate any of the materials asked for on our sign up genius, please remember to send those to school tomorrow as well.

I can't believe we have already been first graders for 101 days!

Jump Rope for Heart

Letter from Mr. Price

PARENTS: In two weeks, FEB. 24th - 28th, our school is holding our annual Jump Rope for Heart event.  While encouraging community service, it is also an educational program.

Educational messages include:
· Staying tobacco free
· Eating right
· Exercise as a lifestyle
The dollars raised are critical to the development of lifesaving research.
Unfortunately, heart disease and stroke are the #1 and #4 killers in America today.  They account for almost as many deaths as all other causes combined.

Did you know…
Every day 2500 people in America have a heart attack and 2100 people suffer a stroke.
Family & friends are welcome to support your child’s volunteering efforts by making contributions.
Donations can be made in packets, online, or both!!!
