KB's Winter Exhibition

For his exhibition, KB learned all about bearded dragons.  Some of the things he taught us were that bearded dragons come from Australia and that fireflies are poisonous to them!  Its a good thing we never tried to feed our dragons fireflies!  Way to go, KB!

Jarvis's Winter Exhibition

Jarvis decided to learn all about dinosaurs!  He taught us that some dinosaurs were slow, and some were fast.  He also told us that some dinosaurs had sharp triangle shaped teeth to eat meat, and some had round teeth to eat plants.  Excellent job, Jarvis!

Christian's Winter Exhibition

Christian talked us about dinosaurs!  He explained how different dinosaurs ate meat and plants and that scientists called paleontologists dig up dinosaur bones and put them together to make a skeleton.  Keep up the great work, Christian!

Nia's Winter Exhibition

For her first exhibition, Nia taught us about violins.  She showed us the different parts, pictures of famous violinists and told us how many strings are on a violin.  She even played a song for us!  Awesome, Nia!

Donovan's Winter Exhibition

Donovan did an amazing job teaching us all about peanut butter!  He discussed how some people are allergic to peanuts and can get very sick if they eat them, that peanuts grow underground and that it takes 540 peanuts to make one jar of peanut butter! Great job, Donovan!

Alphabet Soup is MMM, MMM Good!

This week, we made Alphabet Soup!  We started in our Phonics lesson by playing a game.  First, we were given a shopping list for ingredients - the letters in our names!  Each kindergartener traveled around the room to different "grocery stores" to find the right ingredients, before returning to their seat to make sure they had everything they needed to make their soup...

We then took our letters and a partner's and put them in a bowl.  Each friend took a turn stirring up the letters - and of course blowing on it! - and scooping up one letter from the bowl.  If the letter scooped was in their name, they told their partner one thing that started with that letter and got to keep it.  If the letter they scooped was not in their name, they put it back in the bowl for their partner to stir and scoop.  We had a blast with this game!

After playing the game, we decided to make our own REAL Alphabet Soup!  The kindergarteners each had a chance to add vegetables, broth and alphabet noodles and stir the soup!  The room smelled so good as it was cooking...

Our soup cooked all day!  When it was finally time to eat it, we poured it into cups and stirred it 100 time while we counted to help cool it off!  It was the perfect warm end to a chilly winter day!

Soups on!
