A letter from the Harlan Daisy Troop Leaders:
Dear Parents,
Our kindergarten Daisy Troop started 2013 off with a major community improvement project: collecting art supplies for Arts and Scrapes. This organization collects art supplies and recycled materials and redistributes them throughout our community to children in need. Our girls voted for this charity by a (landslide) majority, and created 4 collection boxes at our last meeting. These boxes have been placed in each of the three kindergarten classrooms, and a fourth box will be placed at the school enterance next to the battery, ink cartridge and sunglasses collection bins.
Cheryl and I visited the classrooms to tell the kids about this project. We explained how wonderful it can be to help other kids who are in need, simply by recycling things around our homes that we don't even use! The kids seemed to be very excited to have the power to help improve another child's life, and in doing so, help make the world a better place.
Our Daisies will earn their "Make the World a Better Place" badge for creating the donation boxes, collecting materials and encouraging others to help collect materials, and sorting the materials for delivery to Arts and Scrapes.
Now, we need your help! Below you will find the Arts and Scrapes donation wish list. If you have any of these items in your home, please send them in with your son and/or daughter to place in the donation boxes at school before February 14, 2013. (We have also included a "No Thank You" list of items that are no longer in need or cannot be used.)
For more information about Arts and Scrapes, please see their website at http://artsandscrapes.org/
Tnak you so much for all your help!
Have a great week, and stay warm!
From your Daisy Leaders
Cheryl, Connie, Cher, Heather and Melissa
