Delayed Start – Tuesday, September 24

This is a gentle reminder that there will be a delayed start to the school day on Tuesday, September 24. School will begin at 10:25 AM. 

Buses will pick up students later in the morning.

If you're interested in childcare, registration forms are available at the office or on a welcome board in the school lobby.

School pictures

If you families have asked about the forms needed for school pictures.   The forms are located in the green package that was passed out at curriculum night. If you were unable to attend curriculum night, the green folder was sent home on the first day of school. If you need additional copies of the picture forms, please let me know so that I can ask the office.

Also, it was brought to my attention that I used the wrong date in yesterday's blog post. Pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 19. I apologize for the confusion.

Math Homelinks

Today your kindergartner brought home their first set of math homelinks's in their blue folder. 

These double sided sheets should be returned on Fridays with the regular week's homework from the calendar. 

A new packet will come home each Monday. 

Please complete one side each night Monday - Friday.

Motor Moms and Dads Training

This is a gentle reminder that the Motor Moms and Dads training will take place this Wednesday, September 18.

If you are planning on attending one of the training sessions, they will be held from 9–10 a.m. or 2–3 p.m.

If you're still interested in participating in this program, please let me know and I will reserve a spot at the training for you.

School Pictures

Class pictures will take place this Thursday, Sept. 17. If you have not already sent in picture forms or packets, please place these in your child's blue folder.

Popcorn Sale

Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 17, the PTA will be selling popcorn for our morning snack! Any kindergartners who are interested in purchasing popcorn should bring $.50 to school tomorrow.

I will be collecting the $.50 first thing in the morning so that it can be sent down to the office prior to snack time. If you would like your student to have popcorn tomorrow, please remember to sendin  $.50. 

Pan Balance

In math workshop today we were introduced to a new math tool - a pan balance!

In small groups we chose two different manipulatives to place on either side of the balance. Before putting them in each student had an opportunity to guess which one they thought would be heavier. We discussed how the heavier side would go down, while the lighter side would go up. 

Some of the things that we used included small bears, pennies, rainbow links and buttons!  We then drew what was heavier and what was lighter!
