I wanted to remind each family that there will be NO SCHOOL on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8th.  The teachers will be having a professional development day.  School will resume next Monday, October 11.

One more reminder that the first milestone is due tomorrow.  Please help your child fill out the resource work sheet and bring it to school tomorrow.  Thank you!

Apple Orchard Field Trip

An information sheet was sent home today regarding our first field trip of the year!  We will be visiting Blake's Apple Orchard on October 22.  Each class will be taking 4 adults with us.  If you are interested in joining us for an exciting fall day of apples, hay rides and fun, please let me know.  The first 4 families that ask will be the ones who join us!  Thank you in advance!

Shining Light

This week's Shining Light was Emmanuel!  He was chosen because of his excellent manners and consistent good choices.  Way to go Emmanuel!

Our First Exhibition Milestone!

Our first milestone is due next Thursday, October 7th.  This milestone is the resource worksheet the children will use to complete their interest project.  The sheet was included in your child's exhibition packet.  Please help your child fill this out.  I encourage your child to look at books, magazine/newspaper articles and websites to find their 10 new facts.  A great way to find information is to help your child create a few questions and call the place your child selected.  Interviews are a great resource!

Please remember that your child does not need to know what their 10 new facts are by Thursday, October 7th.  They only need to know where they will find these facts.  Good luck and let me know if there is anyway I can help you!

Shining Light

I am so proud to announce that last week, or Shining Light was Kyndal!  She was chosen because she is always a 1st grade leader!

I am so proud of you!  Keep up the great work!

Exhibition Packets, Mystery Readers and Field Trips

Please be on the look out for exhibition packets to be coming home this week.  These will include your child's learning team plan, as well as any other materials needed to begin the exhibitions!  If there are any questions I can answer, please do not hesitate to ask them.

Some families have already filled out the form to be a Mystery Reader to our village this year.  If you would like to read a special book to Lighthouse Village during our village meeting time, please let me know.  Remember - don't tell your child...it will be a surprise!

Our first field trip of the year will be coming up soon.  The other Lighthouse teachers and I are working on a fun and educational trip for the children.  Volunteer chaperons are always welcome, and will be selected on a first come, first serve basis.  I hope you will be able to join us for one of our trips this year!

Also, congratulations to Kyle for being Coach Marbry's star last Thursday!

Learning Team Meetings

Please be on the lookout for learning team meeting reminders to be coming home the night before your appointment.  Please also try to be on time, as many meetings are scheduled back-to-back.  At this meeting, we will be discussing your child's goals for their first exhibition.  As our interest portion will be based on a special place, please have a few places in mind so that we can discuss and choose the best possible topic.  I look forward to seeing each family this week!

On a side note, Malik was chosen as the physical education super star today!  Keep up the great work, Malik!
