Back to Our Regularly Scheduled Programming

Today I finally returned to school from a long week of jury duty.  I wanted to let all the families what great notes were left by our guest teacher Ms. Lessane.  I am very proud of the work that they accomplished while I was gone.  This week should bring us back to our normal routines and schedule.  Thank you for your patience!

Also, below is our current AMPT schedule.  It changed while I was away.

Monday - Art
Tuesday - Music
Wednesday - Technology
Thursday - Art
Friday - Music

We do not have gym this rotation, so if you would like your child to bring home their gym shoes, please let me know.  Thank you!

March is Reading Month Surprise!

During the all-school read-in last Friday, the K-5 students surprised the teachers with a reading inspired  flash mob!  They did a great job and really showed everyone their love of reading!  They had been secretly practicing this for the last few weeks in music class and were able to keep it a secret the whole time!  Here is the video:

Thank you Ms. Ritter for an amazing treat!

March is Reading Month!

Last week, a note was sent home explaining that for the month of March, our school will be participating in a reading competition.  At the end of the month, the child that reads the most books on each floor will be awarded the opportunity to be Principal for the Day and enjoy a special lunch with Ms. Johnson!

Your child should have brought home a "book report" to be filled out for every book that they read on their own or together with an adult.  The children should write the name of the book, as well as at least 2 sentences about their favorite part.  I will continue to send home more reports as they are turned in.  If you would like more, please let me know and I can send several copies home.

Please remember that the books chosen should be different from the childrens' guided reading books.  Each completed book report will be represented with a sticker next to your child's name on our display in the hallway.  If you have any questions, please let me know!

Good luck!

Out for Jury Duty

As some of you may have heard from the children, I have not been in school for the last two days.  I have been on jury duty, where I was selected to be part of a jury.  Currently, the trial on which I am serving will continue through at least Wednesday of this week.  Our principal, Ms. Johnson, and I have been in communication to make this week as normal as possible for the kindergarteners as guest teachers fill in for me.  I have seen most of the children as I have been in the building before and after school each day trying to assist the guest teachers with the days' lessons.  Please know that our wonderful guest teachers will be working hard to continue the same routines and lessons as if I was there.  I know that this disruption may cause some of the kindergarteners distress.  I ask that you please speak to your children to discuss both mine and your expectations while I am away.  Behavior and choices should not change while I am gone, and I encourage you to explain that to your child.

I will keep you updated as to when I will be returning as soon as I can.  Thank you for your patience and understanding in advance.
